Dr. David Cloutier has a particular interest in canine and feline behavioral problems. We set up an appointment with Dr. Cloutier where the owners and family can come in and meet with him to discuss the problem. These appointments usually last about an hour to ensure that all the intricacies of the issue are discussed. These visits are also unusual in that he asks that the pets stay at home. Most sessions start out in a discussion of the problematic behavior and all interactions that occur within the household between the pet, other pets and the family. During this time Dr. Cloutier listens and asks questions in order to figure out why and how this behavior started. Interactions between all members of the household are important because the behavior may be between all or just a few of the family members.

Depending on the nature of the misbehavior and the environment, a variety of different treatments can be suggested. They can range from simple modifications in the way things are done, enrollment in training classes, or in some cases drug therapy. Follow up appointments and calls are made between the doctor and the client until the behavior is controlled to everyone's satisfaction.
