Rehabilitation
We have a canine rehabilitation team for pets that have had orthopedic surgeries. There have been studies that prove using rehabilitation after surgery allows the patient to return to a better use of the limb as well as providing an easier recovery process. The rehab team conducts the initial rehab of the patient while they are in hospital beginning immediately after the surgery is completed. Rehab is continued through the duration of the pet's stay with us. The majority of the rehab is done by the owners at home. At the time of the pet's discharge from the clinic the owners are taught to do the various parts of the rehab process. Rehab is set up in stages and each step is discussed in terms of the individual's function as opposed to a set amount of days or weeks post surgery. Most of the rehab is done at home with regular visits here so the team can assess the progress of the pet and alert the veterinarians of any potential problems with the recovery process. These visits also allow the client to discuss and ask questions about the pet's progress. |
