"Max" was a 2 year old cat that came to Veazie Veterinary Clinic with a 1 week history of vomiting and poor appetite. At home, he had a history of playing with nipples from a one year old's baby bottles. On physical examination, Max was 5-7% dehydrated, and had a rather tender abdomen on palpation. His blood work showed no abnormalities, with the exception of a slightly low potassium level (likely from the vomiting). Radiographs showed signs consistent with a small intestinal obstruction. Endoscopy revealed a nipple from a child's bottle in the second segment of the small intestine (proximal jejunum). It was removed via retrieval forceps. Max did marvelously and went back to his owner the same day! |
