Veazie Animal Wellness & Rehabilitation Center
We opened the Veazie Animal Wellness & Rehabilitation Center with the goal of serving pet owners who want their pets to live a full lifespan that is both active and comfortable.
More than just annual visits and vaccines, a wellness exam includes a comprehensive evaluation of health and a life plan tailored to keep pets healthy and active. Our goal is to help our patients live longer and happier lives and provide an atmosphere of recovery and healing.
Our trained therapists work one on one with your pet, applying a specific treatment plan and measuring progress at each visit. The therapist will teach you how to apply techniques at home to continue progress between visits and after therapy is completed. If you feel your companion is not at their best, or want to maximize performance, we invite you to visit our wellness center. Scheduling a consultation is the first step towards a more healthful, active life.
Wellness Center Services
PEMF, or pulsed electromagnetic field therapy, uses magnetic fields at a specific frequency, intensity, and duration to help heal various tissues of the body (including bone) and relieve pain. The primary benefits of PEMF include:
- Decreased pain
- Collagen formation and cell multiplication
- Improved circulation
- Increased tissue oxygenation
- Decreased inflammation
Kinesiology taping is a form of therapy that uses a thin, stretchy adhesive to increase blood circulation and speed up healing of an injury. Unlike standard bandages, which can restrict movement, kinesiology tape is much more flexible and moves with the body.
With our therapeutic laser, we can efficiently and effectively treat a wide range of conditions of the bones, joints, and soft tissues. The laser delivers light energy that safely penetrates through fur, skin, and muscle tissue to address deep-seated injuries and chronic issues, such as arthritis, ligament tears, skin lacerations, bone fractures, and much more. We can also use laser therapy to treat surgical incisions, ear infections, and lick granulomas in Bangor, Maine.

Hydrotherapy tub with an underwater treadmill
A workout in our tub can have many benefits for your pet. Dogs that are recovering from surgery, getting ready for hunting season, or just are shaking off the winter blues can gain muscle and flexibility from tub work outs in Bangor, Maine.
How can the underwater treadmill help my dog?
- Increase range of motion of joints
- Reduce pain
- Increase circulation
- Increase muscle tone
- Reduce stress and anxiety through exercise
- Increase body awareness (proprioception)
Tub workouts last anywhere from 5 minutes to a 1/2 an hour, depending on the fitness of your pet. We can play with three variables in making a workout for your dog: time, speed, and resistance. The resistance is changed by adding or decreasing the water level.
Our Bangor, ME Cavaletti Rails May Aid Dogs with the Following Conditions:
- Joint or limb injury
- Neurological dysfunction
The cavaletti forces the dog to step up and over a bar low off the ground. This requires the dog to have proprioceptive awareness (knowledge of foot placement), coordination, balance, range of motion and flexibility in limb joints.
The Senior Pet
Senior pets can benefit from cavaletti work. As pets age, their muscles and nerves are slower to respond, causing them to trip and stumble. The cavaletti helps senior pets use those pathways, regain awareness (particularly of their hind feet), and increase joint mobility.
Therapy ball work is great for improving a dog’s conditioning, balance, self awareness and core strength. It can help dogs get fit for their favorite activities, from an easy game of fetch to hunting.
What Do Therapy Ball Exercises Do?
Therapy balls are used for dogs that have suffered an injury, are recovering from illness, have arthritis, or need to increase their fitness. Workouts entail stretching by rolling the ball, and use of targeted muscle groups and joints by changing stance and shifting weight. It can also increase core strength by targeting the muscles involved in posture and motion.
Benefits to Ball Work:
- Exercise and strengthening muscles without stressing joints
- Bone and tissue recovery
- Weight management and weight loss
- Improved balance and coordination
- Core muscle strengthening
